• Oxidized Regenerated Cellulose

Oxicel ORC hemostat is an absorbable knitted fabric composed by the oxidized regenerated cellulose.Oxicel absorbable hemostat is white with a pale yellow in color. A slight discoloration may occur with age, but this does not affect properties. Oxicel ORC hemostats meet all the requirements established by the USP for Oxidized regenerated cellulose.

Hemostatic mechanism:
When Oxicel comes into contact with blood, it will absorb the blood and gradually swell, eventually dissolving into a gelatinous material. By briefly applying pressure at this point, the material will adhere to the wound, effectively sealing the ends of the venous capillaries and resulting in a mechanical hemostatic effect. The coagulation cascade is activated, transforming soluble fibrinogen into a net of insoluble fibrin which stops the bleeding.


Oxicel Absorbable Hemostat provides hemostasis within 2 minutes.


When implanted into tissue, Oxicel is absorbed within 7-14 days.Oxicel is completely bio-absorbable.

Oxicel Absorbable Hemostat (Oxidized Regenerated Cellulose) is used adjunctively in surgical procedures to assist in the control of capillary, venous and small arterial hemorrage when ligation or other conventional methods of control are impractical or ineffective.

Oxicel Standard, Oxicel Fibrillar, Oxicel Knit and Oxicel NonWoven hemostats can be cut to desired sizes to use in endoscopic surgeries.Oxicel Absorbable Hemostats are fully absorbed with minimum tissue reaction.

Oxicel ORC Absorbable Hemostat exhibits bacteriostatic and bactericidal properties with the effect on growth and multiplication of gram (+) and gram (-) organisms including aerobic, anaerobic bacteria show resistatnt to antibiotics.
